As the foundations made by the excavator were too wide (120cm) we made a seperation with felt and accacias poles to get a drainage that is 40-50cm wide.

Comme les foundations étaient trop large nous les avons séparé avec un feutre et des poteaux en accacias pour obtenir un drain de 40-50cm de large.

5 Friends came to help for a big digging action and fill up the foundation and drainage. Under a very hot sun we moved something like 40 tons of material...

5 amis sont venus prêter main forte pour remplir les fondations et le drain. Sous un soleil de plomb on a bougé quelquechose comme 40 tonnes de matériel.

The (40cm) concrete wall supporting the wooden frame, reninforced with reebars and a mesh. We apply then a layer of hydro-isolation.

Le mur (40cm) qui supporte l'ossature bois, renforcé avec des fers à béton et de la trame enduite. Une couche isolante en bitume vient fermer le tout.

Delavnica naravne gradnje na Preserjah - August Workshops for Natural building in Preserje.

Na Preserjah med Branikom in Vipavsko dolino bomo avgusta izvedli dve delavnici naravne gradnje. Izdelali bomo delavnico/atelje v velikosti 30 m2 z uporabo tehnik naravne gradnje: lesena konstrukcija, uporaba slame za izolacijo, reciklaža oken in vrat, zelena streha.

This summer we will build a first workshop shed (30m2) in Preserje (Vipava Valley).

A training before making the house and the opportunity to already work with the same techniques:

Natural materials, wood from location, use of straw as isolation material, recycling (doors, windows), green roof.

We will use raw accacias trees cut on the land as construction

to build the wooden frame and roof of the 30 m2 workshop.

Predvidoma bomo dva dni (26. in 27. avgust) umeščali zidake v leseno konstrukcijo,
kar vključuje rezanje in prilagajanje zidakov. Ko bodo stene narejene bomo nanesli zunanji apneni omet.

The workshop ends with plastering of the lime plastering of the wall.

Obe delavnici bo vodil mojster Peter, ob pomoči Čopkota. Skušali bomo združiti teoretično in praktično podajanje znanja.

Both workshops will be led by Straw Building Mojster Peter

We will combine theoretical and practical activities

Udeležba je brezplačna, sprejemamo pa prostovoljne prispevke za mojstra.
Za hrano in pijačo poskrbimo mi.
Na parceli je prostor za šotorjenje.

Workshops are free of charge ( we accept voluntary donations for paying mojster Peter),

and we supply food and drinks.

There is a lot of place to come and set a tent.

We will help to coordinate the travel to the location and away.

Light Straw Clay workshop - Delavnica: Izdelava blokov za gradnjo hišo.

Saturday 25th June and Sunday 26th June.
Workshop: Building Light Straw Clay building blocks to make a small house.

Sobota 25. junij in nedelja 26. junij.

Delavnica: Izdelava “zidakov” iz  slame in gline za gradnjo hiše.

The workshop is intended to be a light presentation on the use of Light Straw Clay as building material for making home and practical making of isolating bricks. Sunday we continue producing the blocks! For this reason, if you can only come one day, better on saturday!

Opis:  Delavnica bo začela v soboto s kratko predstavitvijo uporabe slame in gline kot gradbenega materiala. Sledila bo praktična izdelava “zidakov”, ki se bo nadaljevala tudi v nedeljo. 

Če pridete samo za en dan,  je bolje, da pridete v soboto. 

These bricks will be the natural building blocks for the walls of this small workshop house (30m2) that will be built this summer:

The workshop will be taking place in Rudnik (Ljubljana) from 9h30 til 17h30. Free of charge, and I offer food (lunch) and drinks.
Good to come with clothes that you can get dirty with. But no need for gloves, we use only Clay, water and straw.

Delavnica bo potekala na Rudniku (Ljubljana) od 9h30 do 17h30. 

Udeležba je brezplačna,  prosil bi vas samo to, da udelelžbo potrdite na spodni mail. 

Pridite v oblekah, ki se lahko umažejo.  Za hrano in pijačo bo poskrbljeno.

Ventilation

Bon...je me suis laissé convaincre, dans notre vieil appart, si on installe pas une ventilation, une VMC, on viendra jamais à bout de cette humidité latente à l'intérieur, la buée sur les vitres le matin, le fond des placards trop humide... Pour commencer, je refais le plafond de la salle de bain, des couches improbables de plâtre, peintures glycéro de couleur variées, peinture type gouache genre cache misère.... je râcle tout jusqu'à l'enduit à la chaux et je fais un enduit à la chaux en deux fois, j'applique sur la couche finale avant séchage du savon de marseille à l'huile d'olive. Et séchant la chaux incorpore le savon est cela crée une couche plus résistante à l'eau et l'humidité.

Well... i've let myself get convinced that in our old flat, if we don't set a ventilation, we will never get rid of that feeling of moist, condensation on windows in the morning, cuboards that are too humid... To start with I take care of the seiling. I scratch through the multiple layers of very diverse stuff, gips, waterproof paints of different colors, non-water paints to hide the problems... I take everything out til i get to the original Lime plaster, and i start again with two layers of lime plaster. The final layer, before drying gets a generous layer of Marseille soap, olive oil based. By drying the Lime incorporate the soap into the plaster and it gives a more water and humidity resistant finish...

Je garde ça volontairement assez brut. J'aime bien que ce soit pas trop lisse même si cela resisterait mieux à l'humidité avec le temps...

I keep it voluntarily a bit raw outlook even if getting to a more flat and 

shiny layer would provide better resistance in time to humidity.

L'idée est de combiner un petit ventilo à pas cher, 16 euros qui annonce 130m3 d'air extrait par heure de ventilation et un minuteur. Comme ça je peux programmer le minuteur pour activer le ventilo toutes les 3 heures pendant 45mn, par exemple...

The idea is too combine a small and cheap ventilator for 16 euros that promisses to pull off 130m3 of  air by hour of activity and a little timer. That way i can set the ventilator to work every 3hours for 45mn, for exemple...

Il faut faire attention au branchement, l'interrupteur ne bloque pas la phase, comme ça le ventilo avec un petit minuteur interne continue de pomper de l'air après une douche. Une fois l'interrupteur éteint le ventilo continue pendant entre 5mn et 30mn.

Plugging is not thats simple, as the phase line is not cutted by the switch to that with a little timer in the ventilator, it keeps running for from 5mn to 30mn after a shower.

Comme c'est une location, je ne peux pas partir dans de trop gros travaux, je voulais pas faire un trou dans le mur, donc j'ai refait une fenêtre en recyclant une vieille fenêtre plus grande, garder une partie vitrée et le ventilo. 

As we just rent, i didn't want to go into too much complication and drill holes in the wall, so i recycled an old window to make a new frame and set the ventilator inside of it, but keep some glass. 

Le résultat, ça marche! On sent bien que l'air bouge mieux dans la maison, j'ai agrandit le jour sous la porte de la salle de bain qui fait maintenant 2 cm. Moins d'humidité ambiante dans tout l'appart. L'air est plus sain. Quand on prend une douche on passe en manuel sur le minuteur par un bouton, après la douche on repasse en automatique mais le petit minuteur interne du ventilo continue de pomper l'air 20 mn. Après il continue tout seul une fois toutes les 3 heures il pompe 45mn.

J'ai aussi un interrupteur général pour tout arrêter.

Je suis content de m'être laissé convaincre par ce petit projet qui a couté 30 euros et fait une grosse différence au confort intérieur.

And the result, it works! We feel that the air moves better in the flat. I raised the door of the bathroom so it has 2 cm of air flowing under it. Much less moist in the whole flat. The air is much healthier. When we take a shower we jump on manual mode by a button on the timer, and it keeps blowing air away 20mn after shower, then it gets back on automatic mode, activating every 3 hours for 45mn. 

I have also a general switch to stop everything.

I am very happy i let myself convinced of the potential of ventilation, it cost around 30 euros  and it makes a big difference in the confort inside the flat.

Construire, c'est comme tout, ça s'apprend... alors je fais des exercices...
Quelques palettes recyclées en bois local et non traité et quelques heures pour arriver à un petit lit démontable et transportable pour faire de la route...
